Plain-language terms for a plain-language tool.
By using IEP Compass, you agree to these terms. We've written them to be readable, not to bury obligations in legalese.

This is not legal advice
IEP Compass provides plain-English explanations of IEP documents, special education rights, and related topics. This information is not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney, special education advocate, or other qualified professional familiar with your specific situation, school district, and state law.
If you are in an active dispute with your school district or need legal representation, please consult a qualified special education advocate or attorney in your state.
AI-generated content
The IEP Analyzer uses Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, to generate plain-English summaries and analysis of uploaded IEP documents. AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations.
Always verify important information by reading your original IEP document and consulting with your child's school team or a qualified professional. Do not make significant decisions about your child's education based solely on AI-generated output.
Acceptable use
IEP Compass is for personal, non-commercial use by parents and caregivers. You agree not to:
- Use the service to process documents on behalf of others for a fee without our permission
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the service in ways that affect other users
- Submit content that violates the rights of others or that you do not have permission to share
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
Intellectual property
The content on IEP Compass — including guides, explanations, and site design — is owned by IEP Compass and may not be reproduced or redistributed without permission. The AI-generated analysis of your specific IEP document is yours to use for personal purposes.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
IEP Compass is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the AI-generated content will be accurate or complete.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, IEP Compass and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service or reliance on any content provided.
